Rinnai America Applauds City of Vancouver’s Natural Gas Amendment

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (August 27, 2024) – Rinnai America Corporation, a leading manufacturer of tankless water heaters in North America, applauds and supports the City of Vancouver’s decision to advance the Natural Gas Amendment. It will offer Vancouver residents and home builders more energy choices, including Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Hydrogen blends. Ultimately, the decision will improve home heating and hot water options for more affordable housing.

Expanded energy availability opens the door to more cost-effective hot water heating options, such as tankless technology. Tankless water heaters have been offered in the Canadian market for decades and can be powered by a variety of fuels, including RNG and Hydrogen blends. For example, Rinnai’s Sensei® RX is extremely cost-effective with a Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of up to .98. This high efficiency saves money in the long run but also reduces a home's overall carbon footprint. Additionally, tankless units allow professionals and builders the ability to provide homeowners with a water heating solution that lasts longer, takes up less space, and provides a continuous supply of hot water.

“At Rinnai, we want to keep our brand promise of Creating a healthier way of living® by offering customers a greener water heating option that fosters a healthier environment,” said Frank Windsor, President of Rinnai America Corporation. “We believe the City of Vancouver’s amendment will improve housing affordability and availability of more water heating solutions, as gas tankless water heaters are highly efficient and easy to install, giving homeowners lower energy bills and more environmentally friendly hot water products.”

Rinnai has always been a vocal advocate for PRO and consumer choice by opposing rules that limit tankless water heater options. Recently, Rinnai applauded the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for carefully considering proposed efficiency standards on water heaters, preserving consumers' right to continue to choose from all types of tankless water heaters. Rinnai continues to engage the DOE and provide insights and recommendations as proposed standards are evaluated. Rinnai has also fought for consumer tankless options at the state levels, including California, New York, and others.

Rinnai America Corporation employs over 550 people across the United States at its headquarters, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers. In the last five years, Rinnai has invested more than $100 million as part of its commitment to developing a strong domestic manufacturing base to serve the North American market.
